The Weird & Wonderful Adventures of Emma, Len & Jo
Right Day three! Up at 4.30am and off to do our last massive walk. Chris said that this was gonna be the hardest thing we would do and we nearly died on the last one! When we saw the start of the walk i nearly burst into tears. It was a massive climb up the front of a mountain. There were rock steps in the clif face but they were so uneven and narrow and big that it was like properly climbing - my damn midget legs! Chris asked if anyone was scared of heights - urm yeah me, especially when the chance of plummeting to my death is quite high!! apparantly that first climb is called Heartattack Hill and our darling tour guide felt the need to tell us that he has actually had to carry down dead bodies before - what a charmer! Before you start freaking out oh mother of mine, he did give us the option of doing another walk but we decided to try the beast. OH. MY. GOD! But we made it!! After a few unscheduled stops and a lot of panting and nearly crying we got to the top! And then darling tour guide who had just sat with me to look after us cause I was a little freaked SAT ON THE EDGE OF A CLIFF! well practically anyway! We stayed well away! Kings Canyon though is amazing. By far the most spectacular and impressive and just generally beautiful of all the things we saw on this tour although most people probably dont see it. We were met with bright red rock, bright blue sky and trees as far as the eye could see. Our cameras wouldnt do it justice (for which we were very annoyed!) We walked along the top rim of the canyon and saw the sheer rock faces like in the picture but stayed well away from them! There was also a place in there called the Garden of Eden which was this gorgeous water hole with trees all around, a waterfall, and the regulatory duck! The walk was unbelievable and really not that bad once we got up Heartattack Hill! Chris told us that despite popular belief there were actually 7 types of koala bear, one of which, the pygmi koala lived in Kings Canyon. So off we go following Chris as he is hunting through the trees looking for one and *gasp* he finds one up a big tree. So all the Japanese folk get clicking with their cameras and everyone else is gathered round trying to get a shock, not realising (or listening to me *grumble*) that the koala was actually one of the little clip on ones you get in the shop! They were gathered round it for like 5 minutes when Chris asks them if they want him to get one down so they can hold it and everyone is gasping yes please,....so he picks up a big rock and launches it at the koala! It was the funniest thing I have ever seen! 15 people gasping and exclaiming while still taking photos!! Anywho we got back to the bus eventually and set off back to Alice via a camel farm!! We of course had a ride and blumming Chris took videos and photos of us on the way round. Well, when the camels are galloping i tell thee you dont know where to look! Emma has the funniest photo of her trying to get her leg over the camel! Class!
Eventually we got back to Alice amongst lots of sing alongs (how they mocked my music!) and had our first shower! HEAVEN! After that we all went out for dinner together and Chris put on the photos and videos he had taken on the big tv in the pub. SO FUNNY! We all looked so rough! Noone had washed for 3 days and boy did it show! They were just hilarious! Highly embarrassing like but hilarious! Ones of us sleeping on the bus and acting like sheep for one of Chris' songs! Its all about having a house with sheep and kangaroos that had actions that Chris used to make us do when we went passed other tour groups, or well jsut when he fancied really! Im sure Emma will reinact it for you! We are looking into downloading it as soon as we get back!
Ooh forgot to tell you, Kevin ate a witchity grub thing on the second day, live like, straight out of the ground, and when someone else went to eat another one, they wouldnt eat it whole so everyone saw all teh green slime that is in the little b*****s and boy was it gross! Shockingly neither of us volunteered!
We had the best time and didnt wanna leave!! And I didnt fall over at all!!!! How amazing is that!!!
Anywho, hope everyone is alright, Emma will fill you in on Cairns soon I'm sure. Lots of love Lennie xxx
