Hullo
Well, we swap the city sights of Brisbane for the sights of the ocean & beach in Byron Bay (a familiar theme on the East coast - but hey we're not complaining!).
Byron is the sort of place you could stay for weeks just hanging out ...good vibe to this place, very laid-back ... loads of backpackers head there & surfers... good surfing spot so we are told (weather was not so good the first full day we were there - so couldn't really lay on the beach). We saw loads of surfers - not on the main beach but around the otherside of the lighthouse ... better beaches apparently (though the main beach is perfectly adequate). The pass is a really nice beach ... bit of a walk but worth it, nice walk to the lighthouse (though em & i would have perhaps enjoyed it more without the gale-force wind & donning our repective 'kag-in-a-bag' & 'jack in a pack' haha all good though)... where you get a great view of the Bay and can walk to the most easterly point of Oz (how often do you get to do that eh!)
We had a good look around the shops near the main beach - just one main road so all you need is around there ... our hostel was a 2 minute walk to town (YHA) ... where we found the bead shop (our favourite shop now ... unfortunately Tarzjay (or Target as its better known) has been downgraded to the #2 spot)!
Our last day (very nice sunny weather) was spent chilling on the beach ... admiring the sights of the sea & the surfers hehe! Until we had to leave in order to get our 13 hour coach trip down to Sydney ... woohoo (for Sydney not the journey) ... all our love, Jo x x x
