Hi everyone,
we are in a really beautiful town in Argentina called Bariloche. We have ended up staying here alot longer than we had originally thought. No buses were leaving until Wednesday, but its not the worst place to be lol!!! It´s high up in the mountains so the scenery is stunning with gorgeous lake and mountain views. All the water here is from glaciers so although its freezing, its all drinkable.
Your never gna believe my news...I did a 27km bike ride!!! o ye i did! albeit I had to get off quite abit and push my bike up the hills but i think thats allowed in 27km! after 10 mins of getting the bikes I was in such a foul mood moaning to barney that I wasn´t going to be able to do the whole thing. He suggested going back but how embarressing would that have been after 10 mins! so we kept going and so glad we did. It was so pituresque (as u will see wen I´m finally able to upload my photos!), and although going uphill was hard, the downhill bits we´re really fun. all together it took about 4 hours and we stopped at some random deserted beach we spotted along the way. felt like such a backpackers thing to do - just stop for a swim!
then on sunday we went white water rafting. we were going to do this in mendoza but changed our mind as the water here is so clean. we rafted along a river that separated argentina from chile and mastered our way through 10 rapids. they all had funny names like ´deep throat´and ´vaseline´etc. It was so scary!!! at one point, our guide shouted out the wrong command by imstake (thats the problem with a guide that doesnt speak much english!) so we all leaned the wrong way in the raft, causing it to tip forcing Barney and another boy out of the boat. Was so funny wen we finally got through to the other side of the water to see the 2 boys just floating down the river! they loved it! After the ride, we got to have a massive argentinian bbq, which was very much appreciated after all the hard work on the raft!
there are loads of other activities we could´ve done here but we wna spread them out along the country so the last 2 days have just been relaxation days. we realised that we actually havent just had a day of doing nothing yet! so thats wat we´ve done. Bariloche is famous for its 1 street lined with chocolate shops the size of supermarkets. they´re amazing and the array and choice of chocolates is heven. They are not afraid to give out samples either!!! theres not much point in buying any really. so we have been feasting on that and lazing in the sun. good really as our next stop is pucon and barney as high hopes to climb a volcano. everyone we have spoken to has told us its rly rly hard so im abit scared!!!
we were ment to be heading up through chile to santiago and valpraiso but now probably have to change our plans. i woul dlove to go to valpraiso as its meant to be a rly pretty beach side resort but apparently it has been hit quite bad by the aftermath of the earthquake. so we´re kinda playing the next 2 weeks by ear. hope we can still get to do all that we have planned.
sorry bout all the worry! mum says the house phone hasnt stopped ringing!!! really sweet of you all!
hope to speak to you soon. miss rebak...special mentioned...message me naughty!! meant to arrange our skype date! and any1 else for that matter
love to all x x
