We spent a few days on Koh Phag-Ngan where we partook in the ‘Magic Reggae Boat Tour’, a long-tail boat that took us all around the island, stopping at various points like a waterfall, beaches, a coral reef. We’ll leave it to you to imagine what was on offer, but we were both very sensible, as neither of us fancied stoned snorkeling! The snorkeling was incredible, but I wouldn’t want to go diving. I’m fine being at arms reach of the boat! Harri on the other hand was constantly diving under. That night we saw a Thai rock band, which was pretty hilarious, but good.
We then wet to the West side of Thailand to Phuket, which is like a giant Blackpool but with a few Thai people. It was really tacky, so we had a few day trips to the surrounding islands. One day we went to Koh Phi Phi (said pee pee) where ‘The Beach’ was filmed. It was very beautiful but full of tourists. A Thai girl stroked Harri’s arm in fascination when she bought a bracelet there! Another day we went to the James Bond Island (or rock) which you should recognise from the photos from ‘Man with a Golden Gun’. That afternoon we went to a Muslim fishing village of about 45 families all built on stilts. It started with 2 families 200 years ago and gradually grew to its current size (incest or what!). It was an amazing place with everything you would need, just on stilts! We had a few days on the beach and then flew from there to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
