Well it has been a while since we have written in here... oops! We have been so busy this past week and weekend.
This weekend Emily and one of our roommates Jen went to Lake Como with a group of people from work. I guess it is a beautiful place kind of near Milan. Apparently George Clooney has a house there... how exciting!
Brittney and I stayed here in Florence for most of the weekend. On Friday we had a school excursion to Pisa and Lucca. We had an amazing tour guide who is a native of Lucca his whole life and had spent a large part of his early 20s in Pisa so he was very knowledgeable and gave us an amazing tour. We took our typical pictures that people take when they see the Leaning Tower. They are not on my camera though, so I will have to get them from our friend to upload. The day was beautiful, but right around 7 when we were getting back to Florence it down poured!! It has rained everyday since. (they told us it never rains here!)
Saturday we slept in til around 10ish and then got up and met our friends at the Duomo. We spent most the day shopping and walking around Florence, just enjoying the day... until it rained again!
Sunday we had scheduled a Tuscan Bike tour that we had heard about from some girls at our school. The day was amazing! Sooo much fun. Brittney and I met 2 of our guy friends at 10am and the tour guides picked us up and drove us 40 minutes outside of Florence up to this old castle on a hill. The castle was turned into a winery and olive oil maker. It was so cool to see, it is exactly what I would picture an old castle to look like. We got a sample of some Chianti and the olive oil and then we got our bikes. The first hill was uphill and very difficult which made us a little nervous, but it ended up being a very easy ride. We rode for a while before stopping at this little authentic looking italian restaurant for lunch. After lunch we rode for a while more before we got to a big hill that was optional to try. Brittney and I opted to just get in the van which just took us right to the little cafe. We got some water there and finished up the ride back to the castle. I guess it was 13 miles, but it did not seem that long, I was very proud of myself!
Now it is back to school, only 2 more weeks left. The plan as of now is to go to Venice just for the day on Friday and spend the rest of the weekend doing things around here that we haven't done yet, like climb the duomo or just the bell tower.
We hope the rain stops, but besides that were still loving it!
