I've heard a lot about a small city not far away from Vilnius called Medininkai but haven't got a chance to go there when I visited Lithuania for the first time. I decided to go there just a couple of weeks ago as I was reading interesting facts at "Explore Trakai Vilnius" website. First, I went to a wonderful Church of The Holy Trinity and St. Casimir. It is way different of other churches I've seen in Lithuania - little, wooden and very cozy in the inside. Its history is also unique. After spending almost an hour appreciating magical atmosphere around the church my friends decided to visit famous and sad monument - Medininkai Memorial. In 1991 seven Lithuanian officers were mercilessly shot and killed here and today everyone can come here and appreciate their sacrifice for the independence of Lithuania.
