The village by the peculiar sounding name of Forty Tatars and the Islamic heritage of Lithuania was something that sounded strangely intriguing and we were not disappointed. The old Tatar settlement has the old Mosque still operating and it looks nothing like you would imagine. It's a beautiful wooden structure that may remind you of the religious buildings in the Northern regions of Europe - looks (and is) very authentic! We also sat down for tasting of the traditional Tatar snacks and meals that are being made by the locals for centuries. Everything tasted absolutely delicious! You are even pulled to try and cook something by yourself so you can do it back home upon return.
