It was a low-key week as usual.Everybody is starting to get busy with all their class stuff so I attempted to be as productive as possible.Monday-Wednesday was pretty much work, class and homework.Nothing fun to read or write about.
Thursday we had out weekly play.I got there with plenty of time to spare and Jill's parents were in town so I met up with Jill and Paula at Starbucks.Melissa met us and eventually Paula left and the three of us went to see our play for class. This week we saw Harold Pinter's The Homecoming. It was crazy. It was about the most dysfunctional family ever.We rushed home afterwards because we were on the other side of town and we wanted to go out that night.
The guys next door had a lot of friends in town so a big group of us went out to Crazy Larry's. It is supposed to be a big club in our area. Unfortunately it was a slow night. We hung out and danced before heading out of there in the early morning. We all went back to the flat where I proceeded to pass out quickly.
The next morning I had to get up early and go get a haircut. It was a beautiful day out, so when I was done I wandered the area. I ended up on Portobello Street so I made my way down that to Old Kensington Church Street and finally onto High Street Kensington. I just wandered and window-shopped for a few hours before heading home. Back at home most people were still half asleep and lying around so I joined right in. I attempted to watch the end of Ratatouille with Melissa and ended up passing out. When I finally woke we debated going to the Science Museum, but it would close soon and I had work to do so I did some homework.
Eventually, we got ready to go out for the evening. Jill was in Paris, Val was doing homework and Melissa wasn't feeling well so I ended up going with all the guys to a club. I missed having my girls to dance with, but I made the best of it. The place was kind of slow, but I finally made some English friends (whom I will prob never see again). On Saturday London was gearing up for St. Patty's day. Melissa and I went down to Covent Garden (a market). It had all these Irish tents up. I had a disgusting amount of free samples from all the tents.
It didn't take us long to get through the market so we ended up walking the entire city. We went from Covent Garden to Trafalgar Square, up through St. James park, to Buckingham Palace, through Green Park, down by the Ritz, through Piccadilly, Oxford Circus, Leicester Square, Soho, through Carnaby Market, back through Piccadilly to Chinatown and FINALLY for a break at Waxy O'Connors. It was the Ireland vs. England Six-Nations rugby game, so we wanted to watch it at Waxys. We had to get there 1 ½ hours early in order to get a good seat. It was packed. We joined the crowds on the floor in front of one of the TVs. It was a great atmosphere to watch the game in, but about halfway through we were exhausted and over-heated so we went home.
I went back and took another nap. The house was pretty quite when I awoke, so I decided to go for a short run before we went out. By the time I got back and showered there is no way Melissa and I would have made it anywhere and the boys were staying in, so it made for an early night.
Sunday was used to be productive. At night I went for a run. Sometimes I bring $ and my train pass, but I figured it wasn't necessary. I ran down by the river and I knew the way. However, I tried to change it up a little bit and go farther along the river. By the time I turned wasn't positive where I was. I saw a tube station I recognized and I was soo excited. Apparently I turned the wrong way because before I knew I was running by Dior, Alberta Feretti, Gucci, YSL and more. By the time I hit Harvey Nicholas and Harrods I knew I was screwed.
I started asking random people (all two of them on the street) if they knew where Earl's Court was but of course they didn't. Eventually I had no choice left except to flag a cab. I gave him my address and he said hop in. Before I did that I had to ask if I could pay him when we got there and had to explain my situation. He laughed and was generous and still took me. When we got back I had to sprint in, upstairs, grab money and run back down and pay him. It was a £10 cab ride. That is equal to one month at Cardinal Fitness!Everyone laughed at me, so at least it made for a good story. _________________________________________________________________________
