Okay so last nights sleep wasn't really happening. I could feel the train swaying from my top bunk every time we went over a bridge I could have sworn we were going to fall off. (No railings and about 30 meters above the ground) but eventually the hours passed and my alarm went off at 6am as we were us to arrive at our station not long after. Typically we were two hours behind so we didn't arrive in Ayutthaya until 9am, but this didn't bother us. We put our bags in lockers and went in search for breakfast while we studied the map. After many offers for tours in tuk tuks we decided that the best way to get around was by bicycle. So we spent the next 7 hours cycling around Ayutthaya visiting temples and picnicking in the old ruins. As you can imagine riding a bike in peak hour Thai traffic wasn't the best idea but somehow we managed to come out alive with only a few bumps and bruises. The sun poked it's head out of the clouds for most of the day and we managed to get a bit/fairly sunburnt...oops. (and yes mum I was wearing 50+ sunscreen but I swear it doesn't work!) we've spent 17 of the last 24 hours in the train and the other 7 on a bike so you could imagine that we were ready for a shower and a nice bed for the night. So we jumped onto a train to Bangkok only to realize that we had booked our accommodation tomorrow night instead of tonight. (Oh come on it could have been worse!) but all was well, the found a room for us (airconditioned AND had hot water!!!) an we spent the evening exploring the streets of Bangkok and deciding what we are going to do tomorrow before our next train adventure to Koh Phangan!
