Wednesday evening we went to a dinner show with traditional dancing. It kind of reminded of the luaus for tourists in Hawaii where they have locals since and dance while cultural cuisine is served. I was not really fond of the food but did fill up on the feta cheese (feta is popular in South Africa and Zimbabwe) Kalamata olives, and a banana pancake. We have been enjoying Pinotage wine, which is a popular varietal here. It is usually medium bodied—much heavier than a Pino Noir.
We had an early wake up call (like every morning!) on Thursday and drove about 6 hours by bus to the Johannesburg airport for our 2 hour flight to Cape Town. We were pleased our luggage arrived safely and around 8:00pm we checked into our hotel in Cape Town. Mom and I had a late light dinner at the hotel and crashed.
The photo shows some "houses" we drove by. They are provided free of charge to South Africans and include water and electicty. I have taken a lot of photos of all the houses we've seen. Numerous ones look like these and I find them quite upsetting to look at, yet I continue to snap photos of them when we pass by.
