My first weekend in London has been fantastic! Friday was a long but enjoyable day. Met the loveable Bryony, caught up with Sarah, and checked out the park. Met Patrick later on, and then crashed around 9 pm.
Slept ridiculously late Saturday, and then was invited to a Hen-do (kinda like a stagette party) by Sarah's friend Dave, for one of his Canadian Friends, Hetti. Turns out I know Dave as well, from waaaay back in Winnipeg. I go all the way across the world, and hang out with another Winnipegger, go figure!!
There were four of us (Hetti, Dave, Annabel and I), and we took a train out to Milton Keynes, complete with champagne, and then went indoor skydiving! Let me tell you, it is every bit as fun as it looks in the photo. It was such a blast.
Came back to the city, and went out for dinner in Soho. This fantastic little trendy restaurant called La Bodega Negra, and the food was amazing! It was the little dark basement restaurant with such a cool atmosphere! The funniest part, is the facade outside makes it look like a Sex shop/Peep show, and I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into!
After dinner, we went for a pint at a club, and then they decided to show me around a little bit of London. We covered alot of ground. Soho, Oxford Street, Oxford Circus, Picadilly Circus, Leicester square, Trafalgar Square, Waterloo bridge, to name a few! It was a nice little walking tour, all at night, so was definitely a neat experience!
Late night... got in around 2am... not bad for my first night out in London! ;)
Sunday I had planned to check out the Olympics closing ceremonies at Hyde Park. They had massive screens where you could watch the Olympics for free. Unfortunately, they decided to ticket the event at Hyde Park for the closing ceremonies, and we got all the way there before we found out! Dave had come to join me, so had some lunch in the park, and then went for a long walk to take in some sights. I did make a quick stop-in to see Buckingham Palace, since it was just 'round the corner, and then saw Kensington Park grounds. Walked all the way to Notting Hill (unfortunately there was no Hugh Grant sighting), and had my first British pint! It turned out to be quite a lovely day!
Watched the closing ceremonies from home, since I couldnt in Hyde park, and quite enjoyed them. My inner 10 year old girl was a little jealous that the Spice Girls were playing in London, and that I was not there, but I did manage to make it through. haha
Big week coming up! New baby arrives this week thursday, so I am slowly learning Bryony's routines. I'm sure all will go well.
Hope everyone is having an awesome week, and until next time, I bid you farewell!
