Hi all, Happy New Year ~ hope you had a fun holiday time. We are now in the Far Horizons Tucson Village RV Resort ( our site is complete with grapefruit tree :) This resort has about 500 sites, some park models and some RVs and the people are about 50/50 Canadians and Americans, all very friendly! There is so much to do that we are still trying out things and trying to decide what to focus on (focus?? what is that?). So far, we are both playing Pickleball, Malcolm is learning stuff in the woodworkshop. Elinor is trying out glass fusion and doing line-dancing, bike club and exercise classes. Next week we will both join the photo and computer clubs (they haven't started yet after the holidays). We are even getting in lazing-by-the-pool time! Right now I, Elinor, have a bad cold so don't continue reading if you don't want to catch it! Malcolm hasn't got the cold yet but is primed to be whiny if the need arises :) We have been exploring the area a bit ~ drove up Mt Lemmon, the local ski area at 8,000ft and Tess had a chance to play in the snow. Nice views from there~ the photo at the beginning of the blog is a view of Tucson from there. Last Sunday we went to Sabino canyon, very close by, where we took a tram up to the end of the canyon and walked back down, It is a beautiful area with amazing rock formations, a creek at the bottom which is so unusaul in the desert and attracts wildlife and different trees like the sycamore with it's lovely white bark. We actually, surprisingly, made it until after midnight at New Years!! There was a party here that we went to ~ live band, casino-style games ( we tried to learn Craps), a photo booth and silly hats :) Malcolm even danced!!! A few days later we went to a production at a little theatre nearby which, we were delighted to see , was set up with little round tables where we had a pizza and a drink! The play was really fun ~ like a pantomime where the audience booed the bad Mayor and cheered the heroine who was trying to save the Christmas spirit in the town. Tucson seems to be a nice easy to get around community with lots of cultural stuff on ~ we are planning to go to a "Fab 4" (Beatles) show and of course an Abba Tribute band for Malcolm! It's nice that we can do this stuff so close-by instead of having to drive into Vancouver if we were home. The weather here is nice ~ it gets cold at night (no, I know not like it is in Canada and the Eastern US right now, I'm not complaining!!) then after about 10am it gets warm and by the afternoon it is shorts and pool time. We play Pickleball twice a week and can take Tess. She has been named the official mascot and there are now 3-4 people bringing toiletpaper cardboard rolls (her VERY favourite toy) for her. Of the 3 of us (Malcolm, Elinor and Tess) Tess is undoubtably the favourite ~ hmmmm. I have added a couple of pics, hope you can see them (if not, it's definitely NOT operator error :) take care and do drop us a line, bye for now, Malcolm and Elinor
