Arrived safely in George Town, following a 22 hour journey on an overnight sleeper train, which took us through Thailand and into Malaysia. The train journey was long, and at times the train was very cold, as it had air conditioning on all the time. The train compromised of a large chair per person mine and Allena's facing each other. At night the chairs were folded down into one bed and a bed was pulled down from the roof to form bunk beds, these were cosy but due to the cold and the train jolting, I didn't get much sleep.
We arrived in Butterworth and got the ferry over to Georgetown and arrived safely at our hotel by taxi.
The hotel is very nice and everyone seems friendly. We have been out for a walk and the traffic as in Bangkok is manic, with few lights for crossing the road......
We had food at a hawker stall, and after making sure I wouldnt get any fish, I had sime lovely vegetable noodles. and Allena some fried rice with prawns.
After a long train journey I look forward to a cosy sleep in my hotel bed.
