So I left Elandsbaai a little disappointed, but also looking forward to Saldanha. On the way I passed a couple of pleasant holiday towns, Dwarskersbos, and Velddrif. It seems like "cerebos salt" is processed in Velddrif, as I passed this huge building with a Cerebos sign and salt dunes scattered all around it. Arriving in Saldanah not sure of where to go, what to see, or where to stay, I came across a Restaurant named Captains Cabin, with a huge sign outside that read: Fresh oysters for only R8.00 each, that immediately put a huge smile on my face. They were sublime! Take a lemon, slice it in half, and you now have an idea as to the size of the oysters meaty part. I ate six, and had two Windhoek lights for a whopping sum of R74, now that is value for money!
The manageress of the establishment gave me a couple of contacts for places to stay, and after failing with all the cheapest ones, my only option left was Blue Bay lodge, booking in made it clear what I was paying for, and I soon made my way up the stairs to my room. I relaxed for a while, and after dark, headed for the beach bar in Langebaan, which the receptionist at Blue Bay assured me, was going to be the place most party goers went, and was sure to have lots of fireworks and celebrations.
