Ok, I've lit a fire, klippies & cola in hand ( not my favorite drink by far, but it will suffice for now ) So let's get cracking on this blog thing.
I left Vryburg with more torrential downpour straight away, but by the time I reached Kuruman the storms subsided. There is little here that would be of interest from my perspective, apart from the ever increasing frequency of donkey carts, witch was loaded to the max with goods and whole families, consisting of : father, mother, grandma, brothers, sisters, and their children, on top of it all! I couldn't help but feel sorry for poor Eeyore and his fellow slave, if I had any carrots with me I'd feed them immediately.
Note to self: buy carrots for donkeys tomorrow!
I also saw lots and lots of road kill, seems the Karoo is full of wildlife after all, that is until they decide to cross the road, oops! I managed to dodge a water terrapin myself, and plenty of guinea fowl too. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a 1m plus crocodile in the opposite lane, also road kill. Nowhere close to water, in the middle of the Karoo!
I arrived in Upington, only to get out of my air conditioned car, and step straight into an oven! The temperature had risen from 19 c' in Vryburg to 36 c' in Upington. Asking the lady manager at the Engen for directions to the restroom, it was clear that the people around here's temperament matched the temperature, ie not very pleasant!
After looking around for a while I found an affordable guest house, Guess what? This lady was even more rude, maybe they are related, come to think of it, they might all be related here, which would explain everything :D
I found some amusement though, evirie pirsen spieks lekka Afrikaans hieso!
I'm off to braai and open another K & C
