Today we had a really nice breakfast at the hotel, lots to choose from. After breakfast we then headed to the bus station to catch the bus into Douglas. Eddie got talking to a local guy, he told us a few things about the Island and told us about the tram that could take us to the Laxey Wheel so we stayed on the bus till we go to the tram station.
It was a beautiful day great views of the sea and Douglas. We got onto the tram which went through the country side to the Laxey wheel, it was a really good journey through the country side. We walked down to the Laxey wheel and had a look around. It was very impressive, huge. It was a water wheel. We then had a look at the mine, it was so tiny and becuase they didn't build it straight it was hard for them to build a lift so they had to manually lift everything out until they came up with a pully system.
After looking at the wheel we got onto another tram and headed up to Snaefell Summitt, 2000 metres high. From here you can see Scotland, Ireland and England's coast lines but it was to hazey to see it. Eddie and I left Alison and Graham at the top and walked down to the Bungalow stop which is part of the TT race track. We watched the bikes go past. These weren't the races, just people riding around the track. We met up with Graham and Alison and headed back to Laxey on the Tram, great views all round. We had lunch in Laxey at the pub sitting in the sun. Then back on the tram to Douglas.
We then caught a taxi back to the hotel for a rest and change into warm clothes to then head out and watch the racing. Eddie then rung his mate Mike the Taxi driver who picked us up and took us to Greg-Ny-Baa which is a pub so we could watch the practice race. We brought tickets for 5 pounds each to go onto the baloncy to watch the races but they sold that many that we couldn't see anything so we had a meal then walked around to different parts by the pub to watch the racing. It was really good watching the bikes. They are crazy, I wouldn't do it and glad that I didn't see anyone crash. Eddies mate Mike the taxi driver picked us up once the roads were opened and took us back to the hotel. Thanks Mike, you are awesome!
