Eaton Family's Aussie Adventure
We did the dawn cruise at Yellow Water Billabong and it was well worth the money - the wildlife was spectacular, the sunrise very special and the mossies bit all those people silly enough to wear shorts!! We saw brolgas, jabiru, cormorants, darters, jocanas, little and great egrets, whistling ducks, magpie geese, azure and forest kingfishers and those are just the birds whose names I can remember. We also saw lots of saltwater crocs. It was a real highlight. The day did not finish there as we then did the 4WD drive to Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls. The last 20km was the adventure in itself - lots of sand traps, creek crossings, including a 1 metre river crossing. Cath drove there (Rich is a terrible passenger) and Rich drove back so we got to share the excitement. We couldn't have done it without snorkel on car! Twin Falls was magnificent (see pics in album) but you can't swim there and did a little tinny trip along the gorge and then a walk to the falls. Jim Jim was a different story - a 1km walk over really huge boulders took us 40mins and we are good walkers - it was simply not worth the effort and Claire strained her groin - I was surprised not to strain something as it was very strenuous helping her. Luckily Twin was so good!
