Eaton Family's Aussie Adventure
We have spent a very pleasant few days in Alice Springs. there is a really great Desert Park here and also a fabulous Reptile Centre. (you will see photos when I can upload them). We were able to hold bearded dragons, blue tongues and shinglebacks (all lizards) and able to touch gently a thorny devil (also a lizard). Matthew, especially was in heaven. He thinks he might become a specialist in tracking animals. On walks we look for animal poo and try to work out who it belongs to and find holes to identify who lives down them. He is disappointed that thorny devils are the only reptile that you cannot have as a pet....they eat 4,000 ants per day and only 6 species of ant at that. They are very interesting and cute though - his new favourite. We are learning such a lot about animals and their habitats and adaptations for desert life.
