Left the North Coast and we are now down on the West. Drove through lots of forested roads in drizzle so our views were a bit restricted. We stopped for coffee in a small town then onto a town called Zeehan which was apparently the second largest town after Hobart once, due to its Silver Lead Mines. Now it’s called a heritage town but they were charging a high entrance fee for their museum which didn’t look that big so we decided to give it a miss.
We are now in Strahan where we are staying for 3 nights.tomorrow we are travelling on a Heritage train up to Queenstown and on Saturday we are on a fancy boat going up the river. It’s a pretty little place with quite a few people milling around.
We are hoping for the clouds to lift tomorrow so we can see something of the area.
The picture is our accommodation Pete and I are in the white building upstairs.
Little bit of excitement today was that I walked across some short grass in a park to pick some blackberries for Bill, when I got back on the path I noticed a black thing like a bit of string on my shoe. I stamped my foot to get rid of it and was just about to flick it with my finger when Sue stopped me. Don’t touch it she said it’s a leech. Yak it was firmly stuck to my shoe and making its way to my leg. Had to remove it with a stick. To think I could have been “bled”
