Hi All
The photo was taken in the Lakes District. It is a stunning area and would have liked to have stayed longer.
In Cardiff since yesterday and leave tomorrow for Padstow for two nights.
Thank you Stewart for the lovely Mothers Day surprise you organised in Cardiff.
Had one night in Liverpool, had a Beatles taxi tour in the afternoon and then found the
Cavern Club. Entry is free and you just wander in and stay as long as you like.
Good timing meant I heard a very reasonable rendition of John Lennon's "Beautiful Boy"
which has always been a favourite. One of the lines has been very relevant for this trip---
"Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans."
Pretty grim place like a lot of UK cities, but the natives have all been friendly.
Thanks Jed for a fun Beatles experience, even if you did point out the exact spot where
John,s mother was knocked down by a car and killed!
Then to Oxford for two nights, freezing again.
Interesting place. Had not realised that the University buildings covered such a wide area.
We both liked Blackwells book shop which houses 160 thousand books on 2 and a half
miles of shelves.
Then to Blenheim Palace which was a real thrill as I have always been impressed by
Winston Churchill. Saw the room where he was born and even one of his baby vests.
Cardiff and Wales in general not as impressive as England.
Staying not far from Pontypridd where Tom Jones hails from.
That's all for now, best wishes to all.
