Well well well finally somewhere i ont know and man is it scary!!! Feels really wierd relying on other people to direct you and also looking at maps in the middle of the street!!!
We got here just before 1400 and managed to get a cheap enough taxi from airport. although from reading the information on the internet i had palced the words "300 baht" on the paper!! guess how much we got charged after he saw the note - yes 300 BAht!!! although the meter read 240!!! Doh error one!!! (2 more to come!!)
Well after arrivng mid evening we decided we should get out and o something so off we went on our treks with no knowledge except how to get to the sky train. After the so called 5 min walk took 20 mins we arrivd at train station with sweat litteraly pouring off me, and some bad tastes in our mouth!! (the city is so clogged up with cars. apparently 40% of police time is spent in the hospital recovering from inhalation of pollution!!!).
At the station it took some much needed pointing and directing for us to find our way to the correct ticket station, and finally to the stop we needed. The weekend markets!! we only had a hour or so to go round but i think that was long enough really. The place is so cheap!!! sunglasses for 3 quid, that could be sold for at least 15!!! This was the market where you can get anything (including diptheria from the water). Puppies, furniture, fried crickets , t-shirts you name it it was there!! Not too in the mood for shopping i followed like a good little puppy and looked at things i was told to look at. Then school boy error number 2 happened -
Sarah found a stunning watch, which looked well worth 30 - 40 quid, a diesel fakey!! The price wanted was 250 baht, less than 4 quid. Upon this sarah said to me should i barter (the thing to do here), i shrugged my shoulders so it didnt look to obvious i meant yes. Sarah seeing this turned round with a detemined face to FOLD and cough up the money much to mine, the sellers and the sellers friend surprise!!! I htink they would of shut shop if sarah had been there earlier!!! (shocker 3 to come)
After finding our way home we washed up and headed back down stairs to find out where the boxing takes place and where to eat - ohhhhhh eat i love it!!!
Directed to a food night bazar indoor outdoor foodcourt off we went. You had to buy tokens as no stalls took cash, we managed to find chicken and chasew nuts and some pineapple rice with prawns!! both stunning, i mean stunning!!! along with some nic beer the night was going well, although whilst you eat on stage our some terrible karokee singers!!! worse than me as they cant speak english but sing english songs!! It is a good game of guess the song, plus the band messes up pretty regular which is funny!! the people actually get paid to do this as well!!!
Then as we sat there we realised the food court was the way forward for the night and boxing would be done another night. Some more beers later, and some stunning more stunning than the other food - stir fry squid and garlic we found ourselves quick approaching midnight and end of the market so 2 wobbley legged people headed home. No sooner in the door than thunder and lighting filled the air!!
