An early start for our tour of palace of Versailles, the last palace of French royalty before the revolution. Lois 14 built an amazing monument to the excesses of the nobles. The stables were magnificent, the carriage building and the massive palace surrounded by 1000s acres of opulent gardens.
It is clear that royalty around the world lived to amazing excess and pretty well deserved the people's wrath right across Europe. This includes Denmark where the royals are bleeding the country dry to live a privileged existence today which the country simply can't afford.
Again we dined at a great restaurant near the opera house and wandered back through miles of exclusive shops in the rain. After $60 for a couple of scotches and two sav Blanc's we went to a great Italian restaurant siting so close to other diners we all became acquainted.
It's time to pack up again for our flight to
Nice tomorrow. We hoped to climb the arc de triumph but the rain has beaten us tonite and Lizzie is pissed?
