Blog 22We are still here in Carloforte! Our barnacled bottom is now silky smooth, our sail has been to the sailmakers and come back all patched, various other jobs have been done (fixing bilge pumps, gelcoat repairs, engine oil changes) and double Helix is looking gooooood! (still a work in progress though!)Just as we were ready to go again, the wind has turned against us (in a very big way) so we thought we might as well stay here for the Tuna festival at the weekend. The festival is apparently a very big deal, with tuna cooking competitions (free food) and a fun fair (at the end of our pontoon) and lots of other festivities. It will also be Annas birthday soon, and she has expressed a desire to stay and eat sweets and cake and other junk! However, as soon as we get a realistic weather window we will head off - first we think to the south coast of Sardinia and then on to Sicilly (depending where we leave from it should be about 150 nautical miles). We met another sailing family aboard a catamaran - sailing under a newzealand flag (although originally from Brazil). They were here for a few days and the girls all played well - especially Ellen and Marina. Louanna (who was the oldest) taught Anna some jazz dance steps which went down a treat! The weather is heating up a lot now - we have all curtains closed and all windows open all day to keep the sun out and the breeze in, and duvets have been packed away in bin bags - maybe till the winter! Ellen and Anna are doing well, most of the time we are not Lizzie John Ellen and Anna, but various combinations of Cinderella, ugly stepsisters, sleeping beauty, Marina / Maya / Heidi/ Elizabeth / Emelia / baby Lizzie / Sarah / James /Auntie Nicola, Aunty Mo, Nina or baby Adam. It gets hard to remember what role I am in!!! Suffice to say imagination is working well!We still really like it here, but John is itching to try our new and improved Double Helix, and we are still planning to get to Greece for the summer, so maybe the next blog will be from somewhere else!
