(24 November)
Woke up late today feeling much better than I had in ages! Managed toast for breakfast and felt well enough to go for a walk! I wandered to the beach which was basically just across the road, and sat reading for a bit. Pretty soon I realised I needed to get some sunglasses because I'd broken mine in Phi Phi, so I wandered back towards the shops.
The sunglasses were really expensive but while I was looking at them I met two guys from NZ who were on a week long holiday with a group of friends. They were staying in the Holiday Inn up the road, which had a pool just off the beach, and said I could come use it if I wanted! They were heading for food though, so I went back to the beach and chilled for a bit, then they saw me on their way back and i joined them to pretend I was staying in a hotel for the day lol. It's hard to explain how much feels like luxuries after hosteling through Asia! They were all pretty nice guys, and the pool was lovely! Also managed to get my first hot shower since Bangkok! It was amazing to have a proper hot shower in a fancy hotel after the last few weeks!
Chilled out with them for a bit until it was a reasonable time to skype home for mum's birthday, then headed back to the hostel! Was able to video call mum from the music room which was awesome, talked to her for over an hour, hadn't been able to have a proper chat in ages! It was good as well because I think she thought I was dying lol, so glad I was feeling a bit better for skype!
After skype I asked one of the guys in the hostel where was good to eat, because I felt like I could manage some proper food finally. Ended up having a couple of spoonfuls of rice and veg before I was full but it was good and I managed to keep it down which was awesome haha! When I got back Scott had arrived, which was pretty cool. He was sharing a room with 2 English girls called Sarah and Toni who were nice! I went with them to a big food court place where they got dinner.
It was the last night for a couple of the ones who had been at the hostel for weeks, so everyone had a few drinks (I was on the water, definitely wasn't at the point to try alcohol yet!) at the hostel and then went down to the beach for a bit and had a bonfire and chilled out. I wet down to the beach for a bit but was still pretty tired so was back by about 1 and straight to bed! Definitely a much more successful day than the last few though!
