We arrived into the station at Guilin the next morning and got on to a bus to Yangshuo. It is a bit further out in the country, and was pretty awesome! I was expecting a proper rural village, but it was a big enough town with loads of shops, different types of restaurants (not just Chinese!) and a few bars and things. It had a lot more western influence than other parts... There was even bakeries! Not quite the same as at home but it was a glimpse of some bread at least!
We dropped our bags and went for a walk, then stopped for food at an Italian! Which was awesome haha, but pretty overpriced. Still probably cheaper than home though. Then we had a look around the markets. They were a bit less up for bartering but a few still did it... By this stage I didn't really fancy buying much else though so was just having a look. It tends to be all much the same really!
We all went for dinner that night apart from Peter, which was a shame because it was Frieda's birthday! Dinner was really nice, and Jenny had got a massive cake for Frieda, which was really nice! Different from home though, lots of cream and fresh fruit involved, but it was good! Then we went for a few drinks in a bar where there was some horrendous Chinese kareoke haha. The Chinese don't really seem to drink anything like the way we do at all! But it's pretty nice cos it's so chilled out. Most people went home and a few of us went to check out the other bars, which were much the same, lots of really bad Chinese karaoke! One bar had what looked like Yahtzee at every table which was cool! I can't remember how to play though, even though we used to all the time as kids! We called it a night pretty early as (surprise surprise!) we had an early start the next day.
