(3 October) - continued!
I have a pretty strong feeling that I uploaded a half finished blog... Oops! Think I'd got up to the cooking class.
It was really cool, we went into a restaurant and there was a big room with loads of cooking stations, looked very hi-tech! We were cooking gung pao chicken, sweet and sour pork, and dumplings! It was fun, but not sure if I could recreate it all without someone giving me all the right ingredients set up for me, and having all the right equipment! Was amazed that the sweet and sour sauce was basically just ketchup and vinegar! I'm gonna be a cooking fiend when I get back trying to recreate the Chinese food... Especially garlic broccoli! I could eat that forever haha. There was a crazy poster on the wall that told you which ingredient go together and which don't which i forgot to take a picture of! Gutted. But I did learn that turtle and honey go well together... Don't think I'll be trying that! We got to eat all the food we made as well so it was good! :)
After the lesson I went to pick up my washing which was awesome!! Amazing to have properly clean clothes! Had been a bit worried about my clothes when I left them in cos I've never really got laundry done (except at home!) and accidentally bartered with the guy so thought he might destroy my clothes to get me back! But was all fine!
That afternoon just chilled out on the Internet and walked around the Market a bit. Some of the others went to do Tai Chi in the park but after my previous experience with Katherine at Tai Chi I decided to give it a miss! They all said it was really good though.
The train that night was really nice. No stress at the station, no long trek to the train or crazy pushing Chinese, nice, clean beds all together! We all signed the card phil and Lyndsey had sorted with a picture of us on it! And put in money from the tip. We had to organise all this with Jenny very nearby, so tried the really unobvious code phrase "Mary had a little lamb" when she was coming...pretty sure she must gave cottoned on haha. But then we gave her the card and said thank you, and she surprised us all by giving us a little Chinese picture each! She really was lovely!! We were very sad to say bye the next morning at the airport, definitely a few wee tears after the hugs! But we were on to our next adventure, off to Hong Kong with our new guide, Charles!
