Donna & Neils Travels
As we seem to be waiting for buses a lot these days we've decided to keep the site up to date more than we have in the past.
Arrived, absoloutely knackered, yesterday morning after a very tiring 6hr bus ride (we left Comodoro at 12midnight and got here at 6 in the morning without any sleep). Thinking we would just be able to find a room and flake out we went to the nearest Hotel, which was full, and so was the next one and the next one, s***!!!! Spent the next 3 hrs in the (very tiny) bus station before deciding to give it another go. HOORAY!!! we found one, which turned out to be really nice. Having settled in we decided on not taking the chance of lying down for a while (you know how it is, you yhink you'll just rst your eyes for 5 mins but then you wake up 6 hrs later and the day has gone) and went to see if we could book up the zodiac boat trip that we came here specifically to do.
Having found the place we had to wait another 2 hours for them to............. well we don't really know but they took 2 hrs to do something. But it was worth the wait. as the trip was excellent, looked a bit amatuerish but that made it better. The guide(s) were 3 local girls who seemed to take it in turns telling us about the animals and history, while smoking their fags and flirting with rather old but well tanned salty seadog driver.
As soon as we got out one of the 2 Danish guys(also on the trip) spotted a dolphin which was leaping around in the sea. We then moved on to see some cormorants, which was ok if you like cormorants and then we went to see an island full of mangellanic penguins, this was brilliant as we got to get out of the boat and mingle with them. After this we went around the bay and had the most fantastic time watching dolphins jumping out the water and also, swimming alongside and under our boat, which Donna must have found orgasmic as she suddenly squealled at one point 'they're under the boat, they're under the boat', which everyone found amusing, especially the locals. What made it more special was that the dolphin group comprised of the 1 adult and 3 to 4 small babies.
The town itself hasn't really got a lot about it, its small and clean and apparently famous for being a landing point for Francis Drake(1578), to behead someone after having dinner with them, obviously must have drank too much and lost his head, SORRY!!!!
Nearly at Ushuaia, honestly! We have only one more stop to go.
