Day 30
Another day of sightseeing, today we booked a tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels and the War Reminants Museum. Early start this morning I decided I was tired of the toast, butter and jam breakfast (I really miss cereals) so I went for a Vietnam breakfast of noodles with a fried egg on top, which was soooo tasty I will be having it tomorrow also.
The first stop was at a handicapped handicraft workshop to look at some of the work they do and browse through the shop, which was amazing, their work is outstanding.
Then we went to the tunnels and first watched a propaganda video of what happened during the war, then we went for a tour of the area and they showed us the traps that the Vietnamese used to caputure the US which were fantastic its crazy what a few spikes, bamboo and grass can do.
Next was such a fun part of our day we went shooting and used the guns they used during the war all we had to do was pay for the bullets so we thought why not give it a 'shot' :) It was sooooo loud but thankfully we had ear muffs and then it was our time to shoot an AK47, each shot pumped back at our shoulder, I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like for them to think that this was just a bit of fun for us.
Then we had the chance to actually go through the tiny tunnels they made WOW so tiny not for me obviously I was just bent over but Luke had to actually crawl, it was fantastic, I cannot believe they actually lived in these during the war.
On our way back we got dropped at the War Reminants Museum which I found extremely sad, to the point that it made me feel sick. Some of the images are very distressing and the fact that it has had such a continuing affect on the people for so many generations due to the chemicals of agent orange and the dioxins it contained. We feel that all this hurt and tragedy could have been prevented.
