This is our last day in Beijing and we've enjoyed two hectic days of sight seeing. On the first day we visited the Temple of Heaven, Tianmen Square and the Forbidden city - lots of temples and very big buildings! Yesterday we climbed the Great Wall (very slowly) which was spectacular. It was interesting to find out that it didn't manage to keep any of the invaders out - they just went around it! In the afternoon we went to the Olympic site and saw the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube. Unfortunately we didn't have time to look inside but it was impressive none the less. Today we have woken up to the first sunny day of the trip. When we arrived it was even more gloomy than Manchester! We are looking forward to visiting the Summer Palace which is a huge park built by the emperors and later we are going on an over night train to our next stop.
Our group leader's name is Dragon and we are with a lovely group of people including a couple from Hebden Bridge - small world!
We have taken lots of great photos and we will try to get them on the site when we can.
Ellie - unfortunately we can't fit Antartica into our trip and the next country we are visiting is Hong Kong.
