Feeling Sad it is the last day at the Ranch today. Tomorrow we are leaving on our journey home. Will be lovely to go home and be with our family and friends and to see Bella our Boxer, seems we have been away a long time, but still a bit sad to leave this beautiful ranch and Wyatt my horse. Nick,Alan and John are all going on a mountain ride to Sucicide Pass!! Nick is going to ride the ranch Mule which he is very excited about. Claire and I are going on another hike, easier than last time, walking along a wash in the Senoran Desert Park. Bradley was our guide for the day and he drove us and another young married couple to the park (it was about a 30 minute drive) on the way we passed an indian's stall selling furs and skeletans and animal bones. (think we will give that a miss) We arrived at the park and started our walk above the wash going up towards a viewing spot with lots flowers coming out and magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. We eventually arrive at our destination and had a lovely shady sit down and a drink of water it was so peaceful with bees buzzing and birds singing. We start on our walk down this time walking in the dry wash (it is rare for the wash to be full of water only when they have rare cloud bursts do you find water in the wash. The small desert roads are built like switch backs to deal with these sudden bursts of water. We came upon a swarm of wild bees attracted by a trickle of water coming through the rocks from up the moutain. We managed to carefully walk by without being stung - phew. A bit further on Bradley pointed out some Petroglyphs carved by the Hohokam Indian Tribe hundreds of years ago - amazing. A bit further on we saw a bowl shape carved in the hard rock which the Hohokam used to grind their corn in. It was a great walk and we were sorry when we got back to the van although by now it was very hot. We made our way back to the ranch. At the ranch they were holding a navojo jewellery sale so Claire and I had a little look and managed to get a few more gifts to take home. We met up with the men for lunch they had enjoyed their ride especially Nick on the Mule. That afternoon we all went on our last ride a Beer and Crisps ride!! It was a very hot afternoon so we were all pleased when we arrived at the shaded area for our beer and crisps. The horses were put into a pen and we all sat together having our beer or cider it was great fun. All go od things have to come to an end and it was soon time to ride back to the ranch there was a bit of a breeze now so it was very pleasant riding back a red tailed hawk flew above us. We all made a fuss of our horses and gave them a horse cookie and said our goodbyes. We finished our packing as much as we could and did a bit of washing at the laundrette. Nick and John had a game of pool and a beer. Dinner was delicious they had cooked a huge joint of brisket and it melted in your mouth with cheesy potato and vegtables one of the owners sons carved the meat. This was followed by strawberry shortcake with icecream...... Alan went off to his room and the rest of us went to the bar and had a last drink and settled our bills at the desk. Then off to bed ready for an early start in the morning to take the car back and catch a plane. What an amazing holiday of a lifetime we have had. Alan did a wonderful job planning everything for us the only thing that didnt work was the visit to the Hopi Reservation and the famous lamb stew but even that was an experience.....
