We woke up to lovely sunshine yipee!! Alan was off on a fast ride this morning. Claire,John.Nick and I decided to go on a 3 hour hike up one of the ranch's mountains. A very nice young man called Sean was our guide he was a very good hiker and has a masters degree in geology!! He made the walk very interesting but was a bit over the top with his geology but took it well when we jokingly said that he needed an on off switch,he said he has always been like it as far as geology is concerned. The hike was quite a difficult one with steep climbs and loose shale making it slippery. Nick took a wrong step and fell over head first holding the camera up high which made his fall worse but the camera survived with a couple of scratches, and Nick survived with a grazed knee and arm and twisted ankle! We made it to the top 2,600 feet and when we got to the top the views were fantastic. Our fellow hikers were very nice one was a trauma nurse (which was quite comforting as we hiked and slipped up the mountain) there was a lovely young family mum.dad, son and two daughters the youngest only 8 years old! The dad was very fit and piggy backed the youngest at the difficult points. The other two children did so well gave us inspiration to carry on. Coming down was almost worse than going up but we made it and felt very pleased with ourselves. It was very hot now but we made it back just in time for a delicious lunch and lots more water. Alan had a rest and catch up on his emails to June in New Zealand. Nick and John went off on another walk to look at various sites where cowboy movies had been filmed the most famous being "Winchester 73". Claire and I decided to have a relaxing afternoon by the pool. It was lovely swimming and laying on sunbeds this is the life. We popped to the gift shop and bought a few gifts to bring home. Later that afternoon the wranglers put on a rodeo in the arena for us to watch. Russell (the owner of the ranch) and his Son commentated explaining the history behind the various activities it was very entertaining. We all met up for dinner and after dinner they had a cowboy playing country music on his guitar and singing around a camp fire. He played the guitar well but his singing could have been a bit stronger but it was fun. There were some German guests there so there was a bit of banter going on between them and us but all in fun. The evening was beautiful a lovely moon and loads of stars with little calves and their mums in the adjoining field. Claire and I were tired so went back to our rooms the boys stayed for another beer and ended up having a singsong with a fellow english man who played the guitar fantastically apparently......
