After a decent breakfast we were back on the road again - at this stage we weren't really sure where we were going to stop for the night, just keep driving and when somewhere took our fancy we would stop.
Our first stop was the Ailwee Caves right in the middle of the Burren in County Clare. The tour through the cave took around 30 mins it was pretty incredible - the temp stays exactly all year round whether it's winter or summer which is 10 deg. They have never found any evidence of humans living in there but bones of brown bears were found and they became extinct I. Ireland around the ice age which gives you some idea of how old it is. They have worked out that before the tectonic plates started moving that particular area was part of uganda - just incredible!!
From there it was on to the Cliffs of Mohar. The roads were narrow but Sean managed to keep us on the road - we finally got there and it was a tad chilly!!! The views were breathtaking but at the same time there was a memorial for those who had lost their lives at the cliffs and a sign saying that if you need to talk to ring this number so there was definitely a sadness with the beauty that came with the cliffs. There was an area that was fenced off and warning signs everywhere warning of unstable cliff face - of course everyone ignored that and scaled the fence and went out further - that included Sean - me, I like the feeling that I am not at any stage going to plummet to my death simply because I was dumb enough to ignore warning signs but anyway.
After that it was back on the road heading for Dingle and we had a ferry to catch in a couple of hours. We stopped at lunch at this little place in the middle of nowhere but the fish and the chips were just amazing!!!
After lunch the race was on to make it to the ferry in time. Catching the ferry took around 140kms off out trip so this was one thing we didnt want to miss. After a few curve balls from the gps we
made it with just minutes to spare!! The trip took 20 minutes but the trip was that calm I didn't even realize we had even left the dock.
On the way to single there are heaps of pretty little sea side towns even one that had people out surfing and there were surf schools everywhere - it wasn't like Byron or any of those places it still had this quaint charm about it and not so touristy looking.
The closer we got to dingle the narrower the roads became and there were a lot of blind corners coming around the mountain and of course it started to rain!!!
We finally made it to Dingle and found a guesthouse where the family spoke mainly Irish. It is a strange language and we have been trying to work out what it sounds like but we are at a dead end!!
After checking in we decided to do a bit of exploring around the town. A small little town with a dolphin called fungi their main attraction!!!
We settled on the pub for dinner that night and of course it was euro match night but the publican had the tv on but the sound down which really didn't impress the Americans much!!
After dinner we had a walk around town as it was still daylight to work off our dinner and then we headed home!!
