We didn't get up too early but enough time to allow us to pack our ports, have breakfast and make sure we hadn't forgotten anything before we left Ireland for Paris.
After dropping the car off at the rental carpark we went and checked our bags in - our weights were right on the limit which was strange as we had nothing extra in the bags but magically it seemed to gain 4 kgs in two days - must be fluid!!!
Cork's airport is very small and it was only our flight going for a number of hours - on our flight was a school of Irish dancers and a couple of nuns so I knew we would have a fairly safe flight!!
So in 90 mins we had touched down at the Charles de Gaulle airport. It is absolutely massive - now to catch the trains to Montmarte!!!
After collecting our luggage I went and bought some rail passes for the next couple of days it worked out cheaper than having to buy individual tickets all the time. After already having a fight with Sean about just rushing off and not actually looking at signs to where we were going I asked for directions and a lovely man and woman ( not together) sat with us on the train and told us where to get off and what the next connecting train was. The lady also have us tips on where to buy the most reasonably priced bottle of wine and where to go for macarons!!! They both were a godsend!!!
After finally reaching our train stop we came out of the station and right there in front of us was the moulin rouge and we could see our hotel from the station steps - it was that close!!!
Next to hotel is the museum of eroticism and strip clubs but also some great bars and restaurants - its a kalediscope of everything and it just blends in with everything so well!!
After checking in, we had a shower and got ready as we were seeing moulin rouge in less than 4 hours and
we still had to have dinner yet. After going to the bar next door we had a supercharged mojito - one thing about the french, they suck at making cocktails!!
After our drink we set off to find a restaurant that the receptionist at the hotel had recommended - we got lost!!!
So I asked 2 lovely girls and they walked us to where we had to walk to - some of the streets are as steep as the ones in San Francisco!!!
We finally found the restaurant - cheap it was not!!! So we kept walking, finally we found a place but no menu out the front - no problem we thought - wrong - all they served was chicken or some sort of game including platters of liver - I thought I was going to throw up!!!
So I ordered a 1/4 chicken with salad - salad to the French means lettuce leaves!!!
By the time we had dinner we had around 20 mins to get to moulin rouge to be seated!!! Made it!!
We were seated at a table with a kiwi couple and a couple from china. The kiwis were from christchurch and owned a large supermarket who had been damaged quite severely in the quakes. They also had 3 staff members who had lost family members including one who lost her fiancé - she gave both to their first born a day before his body was found - it was just so sad!! After Paris they are going to the south of France and then going on a Mediterranean cruise - they certainly deserved the break!!
Moulin Rouge was just fantastic and it didn't take very long to forget that you were seeing a lot of boobs on stage and Sean even loved it and not just because of the boobs!!! After moulin rouge we went to the bar next to the hotel for a drink before bed - hopefully we were going to have a good night sleep!!!
