Wasn't able to download pictures or get online so I will be sending this once we arrive in Iceland. Writing this from the airport after checking in . Because the blog can only be posted and sent once a day I figured I would post every night . 2/15/14-Woke up at 5:30AM then again at 7:30AM and got out of bed at 8:30. I laid in bed reflecting on this day in my life. I have had many great adventures in my life and look forward to having so many more. I reflect on this day as a new beginning or a portal to another new conscious experience. Being in presence and consciousness to all that is alive right now. I sat and cried for a while. Crying tears of joy, laughter, friendship, sadness...LIFE! Tears that fill my heart and mind with all that I know, all that I have lived and all that is before me. Listening to Gabrielle Roth's Jhoom CD, Song: On the Other Side (featuring Chloe Goodchild) The words rang so true for me this morning-(first words in the song-"There is a place I know, no one else can go, and no one can go there for me". OH..how true... So here we go on this adventure together!
Snowing pretty hard here again in NY but our Iceland Air flight is on time. Next stop Iceland!!
2/16/14-arrived in Iceland at 7am on Sunday morning. (5 hours ahead of NY time) It was pitch black. My feeling sense was that it was the middle of the night. Well it was that back in NY but the quality of the light and dark was very different. Even the air smelled like the middle of the night to me. (that makes sense to me:-)
Hard to describe the last 24 hours. It has been an absolute whirlwind of movement! Have we only been here for a day. Left the airport and drove about 1 hour to Hotel Selfoss. Had breakfast and couldn't check in until about 2. So Einer (one of the tour guides) took us : to the ocean, where the wind was blowing so hard and cold that it took my breath away. But it took my breath away from the absolute beauty of the sea. White caps, wind, fishing boats far in the distance and walking on black sand with volcanic rock all around! I attached some pictures in a photo album- hoping you will be able to access them.
We stopped and Einer filled a bottle with water flowing from a river on the side of the road. We all drank from this bottle and the water was cold and absolutely delicious. We then proceeded to cross the road through the water/river and walked to sulfur springs bubbling up out of the volcanic rock. You couldn't touch the water because it was actually boiling right there in a pool.
After that we drove again and stopped along the side of the road to view and pet Icelandic horses. They are magnificent! There were about 20 horses and they all walked towards us...separated by a fence. They were so gentle and beautiful.
We then returned to our hotel about 1PM and ate a delicious roasted chicken lunch.
Finally Checked in...Peg and I got settled and then proceeded to organize ourselves for our first Sacred Dance at 5PM.
So much to share. We danced for an hour....it was pure Magic! Will write more about that tomorrow ...OPPS..today . it's Monday 2/17 at 12:30AM. I knew if I didn't document some of this I wouldn't be able to keep up with what is happening.
After dancing we ate another amazing meal. Then Einer looked out the restaurant window and saw the flickering of Northern Lights. So we all ran back to our rooms for lots of clothes to go out and chase them. I think it was -3 Celsius and again very windy.
We drove about 15 minutes and were graced with a beautiful array of pastel colors in the sky.
Sooo much to share. Too tired to write in more detail.
Meditation tomorrow at 8AM. More sightseeing, possible spa in late afternoon and dancing again tomorrow night.
I hope to get a breath to be able to write in detail the feelings that I am experiencing during this adventure. Actually, writing now helps me to organize some of what is happening. But again, too much to write. The dancing grounded, calmed and balanced me!
I feel alive, vital, happy and full of adventure!
XOXO
More to come.....
