When we got to school John offered me the opportunity to go with him and Spotty to the vet, it was however decided that it was it was best that none of the students came with us.
Before that happened we started to practise the songs that we are performing as a whole group in the concert. It was really good to get even the ones who don't claim to sing to take part in the group song. After that we started to learn a Haka for the lunchtime performance, sadly I missed most of that because I was whisked away in the car to the vet.
It was a government vet and it was a very poor place. Spotty was unceremoniously plonked onto a table outside the office. The table had definitely seen better days. Spotty had his temperature taken and some arbitrary poking and prodding was done. Two different vets asked questions, I showed them the pictures of a healthy Spotty from when we had arrived. John was then given a prescription which he disappeared with off down the road and left me with Deep and Spotty. When John returned with the prescription filled Spotty was given a number of injections and then a saline infusion. I was relieved to see the old saline bag was disposed of and a new one appeared along with a sterile needle. We then had to hold Spotty down whilst they attempted to find a vein. Once the drip was in we were supposed to hold Spotty down for 10-15mins to help rehydrate him, but Spotty had other ideas. We tried turning him over but that was worse so after 5 minutes and a partially rehydrated Spotty we gave up. The good news was that at this point he stood up and made like he was ready to leave. As he got into the car park he started hunting around for a puddle to drink from so we gave him a big bucket of clean water and he drank for a whole minute.
When we arrived back at the Mathieson Dan had been whisked off to meet the government minister responsible for the school and a lunchtime concert had been arranged which compromised of Josh performing a couple of his songs and the Angela and the Strodies demonstrating the Haka. They are a genteel group in the main so it perhaps lacked the aggression of the All Blacks with the wide eyes and stuck out tongues but they gave it a good shot.
After lunch it was orchestra rehearsal and Angela went back to sorting the books ins the school library cupboard. The giant ants came back to visit her and she was less enthusiastic to continue when she heard that they bite and leave a big itchy bump when they do.
Most of the rest of the afternoon and evening was spent playing with the children, practising solo and group pieces for the concert and printing photos for scrapbooks. We then all went back to accommodation, started out packing. Then the girls hung out and ate ice-cream in the rather more spacious boys apartment with Sairul and John, whilst Dan, Ange, and myself hung out in Anup's apartment with Suraj, and Projesh. It was the last night celebration, knowing that in the morning we were packing for our last day in the school and our journey home.
