Hiking time!
We've just bought a tent, and decided to take it for a test spin this weekend - so Mayu, Sebastian and I ventured into the mountains of Rokko. Bags got packed, and up the hill we went, planning for camping in the middle of the mountains.
Japanese mountains are special, compared to anything i have ever seen before. There are trees everywhere, all the way to the tops (at least in the 1000m peaks that we hit). When you are walking, it just like a forest track, trees all over, and no view of the mountain your ascending (allthough your legs feel the ascending! :-) ). At times it gives a very fantasy/adventure like feel to it! When you suddenly come to an opening in the trees, the views is vild - trees all over, as far as your eye can see, or until a city starts! Peaks, ridges and gorges - but all green, covered with trees - a very special sight! Tjeck out the pics!
We found a good place for the tent, in 500m height, with an amazing nightview over the city, which even here, in the outskirts of Kobe, is( huge compared to Danish standards! A million dollar view, as Mayu put it. We got up early hoping to see the sunrise over the city, but unfortuanetly it was too cloudy. But instead we got another great sight - wild boars (vildsvin) within 20 m of our tent!
We reached the 931 meter peak, which by the way had risen 12cm the last hundred years due to earthquaes! We crossed the mountains, and ended the trip at another onsen - those hot spirngs are fantastisc, and really do you good after a good day of walking and night of sleeping on the mountain rocks!
Next big thing will be going down south for some time - with a tent in one hand and a thunb in the air - we will see where chance brings us - only plan is to head south and be back no later than the 27th!
See you all!
David!
