Blog Dream 3/25/2011
I had a dream last night that really stuck with me. In my dream I was traveling to a special school located high on top a big hill. We drove up a road to reach the school but the final part had to be done on foot. At the top of the hill I discovered a field full of young Tibetan and Chinese students. It seemed to be recreation time at the school and some students were doing kung fu, dancing others fencing, and others doing gymnastics or swimming.I was so impressed by the array of physical ability that I immediately thought that is was a school for gifted athletes. However, as I took a look at the school with the help of the Principal/ head master character in the dream, I realized it was much more than a school for gifted athletes. The school had live -in professors who taught any number of topics, it had dorms and classes rooms all located in different bungalows spread out over the grounds. There was also a stream that ran between the bungalows and the school also had nutrition and gardening education departments. At the bottom of the hill was a town that had a general store, a café, a stupa, and an old amusement park. I think the implications for the reality of this dream is that schools are needed in every environment and schools need to be built for/ around the populations they serve.I think seeing amazing shortcomings and a waste of talent spurred this dream so much so that I began to work out a version of the solution away from reality, which nowadays so often emphasizes what is not possible more than what is possible. Whatever path I take I believe that I will need to call on all my experiences and skills as well as connections to other solution creation oriented people. The school of life is built through one experience at a time but it is passion that holds it together.
