Dents UK tour
Well a very busy & stressful 48hrs, we arrived very early at the hospital with a starving girl (Daisy had no breakfast either but didn't complain!) Due to our personal consultant being on hand (thats another story) we were sent to the top of the op list, so Daisy hit the theatre around 8.30. She was very good 6 weeks ago but now being prewarned of events she went to the op room very reluctantly, she got "conned" by her mum to blow up the balloon & went under with a little protest.
She was under 2 1/2 hrs + which seemed forever , when we were called to the recovery she had woken herself too early (anyone that knows Daisy will know what I mean!) she was a bit sad until we got back onto the ward.
The op went well, he has removed most of the tumour, it had not tracked onto the three ear bones so these have been left intack, he has removed a portion of the infected ear canal bone, which while painful may well help her in the future.
The surgeon thinks that he may well have missed some & rathert than push on blindly , causing more damage he has opted for a 2nd op in 3-4 months time , the small growths will then appear as little "pearls" which he will remove. He also wants to finish the ear with a graft for a new eardrum.
The ear was opened across the top & front , he has made a fab job at the reconnection & I dont think it will leave too much of a scar, thats if we can stop Daisy pulling it!
She has been left with an internal packing that has to stay in for 3 weeks (fat chance!).
She was out of it yesterday & laid on the bed with no interest, Jax stayed in overnight trying to keep the bandages on (no easy trick), this morning she was like a new girl, the only think was she kept getting leaks, we seems to have got over them & with the addition of extra external "Stitches/steristrips" she has been allowed home.
Hopefully we all will get a good nights sleep & be back on form tomorrow.
So good news & bad but moving in the right direction! dont think we will have as easier ride next time in the hospital so I need to practice my arm locks (someone has to keep Jax there!)
Keep you informed
