Another amazing day, we went sea kayaking!! I've never experienced anything like this before. After a bit of breakie, we headed off to sea kayaking at around 9am. When we arrived, everyone had their choice of kayak; one person or two. Everyone opted for a two person kayak, except me, milsy and roomy who decided to be clever and 'hard' by choosing a single person kayak! Again thinking we were strong enough to cope. Wrong!! Oh my god, my arms still haven't recovered. It was tough, but what we saw was amazing. We saw lots of monkeys on the cliffs and when we parked up pretty close, they all came down (obviously knowing it was lunch time for them). We were launching bits of pineapple at them...although I nearly hit one of them squarely on the head. The monkey had to duck (good reactions!). After the feeding sess, we kayaked for a few more hours into many different lagoons and through really tight passages next to roots and cliffs. But being a true sportsman (lol) I took to it like a duck to water...I mean I only crashed the once! The other boys struggled, Milsy struggled so much he got left behind and lost (I kid you not). We turned left, he turned right and ended up following the wrong group, he was ok... just ended up having an earlier lunch! After kayaking back, me and roomy joined milsy for a spot of lunch (oh yes some more thai food).
In the afternoon, we went to the emerald pools (sounds better than it was). Basically it was just clear water rapids. It was ok, but there were so many rocks you had to be dead careful (unlike myself who kept stubbing my toes). Plus it was quite tough to get out of the rapids at the end because there was no steps and the current was so strong! There was one larger than life lady who must have been struggling for a good 10 minutes to leave the rapids before help arrived in the form of her equally larger than life husband! lol.
On the way back to the resort, we were offered some fried banana and potato (yeah fried??) Anyone that knows me (especially the family) know that when offered something new to taste, i'm a strict no! But with this whole gotta try everything once (plus everyone was munching on them) I went for it again. It was ok (not as good as the old thai grub) and I wouldn't specifically ask for it again, but now at least I can say I've tried it! In the evening we just chilled out and recovered from all the aching muscles. I tell you what, after all that kayaking it really is now a case of 'two tickets to the gun show'!! lol.
