Hi all,
We're now in Singapore, its the first place that reminds me of home!! Only because all the street signs are in English (not sure whats wrong with their own language?) The coach ride took longer than first thought...it was grand total of 7 hours. But at least we had the choice (this time) of reclining seats! They went straight down so our seats turned into a comfy bed. We should have come to Singapore a few days earlier but because we enjoyed Kuala Lumpur so much, we chose to stay. We arrived in Singapore around 5pm, and our flight to Sydney was at 9.50am the next morning! So we had to try and see as much in as possible in the next few hours...it was a right rush.
We checked into our hostel, which was called BetaBox (I was half expecting Robbie Williams to be in there rapping!) First impressions weren't good, we went into our 'dorm' to see a room that sleeps 16 people. It was a very crammed room, bunk beds everywhere, dirty towels and bags all over the show. Milsy's face was a picture! There was one shower and one toilet (definately was missing my room). After we calmed Milsy down, we headed out to try and see as much as possible. We got a map from the fella in the common room (where again there seemed to be far too many Germans staying) and headed in the direction of Sentosa Island. Sentosa Island is apparantely (according to Roomy) the place to go in Singapore. It reminded me of a theme park (but this time it had a beach). The best part was getting to the Island...we went on a Cable Car which gave great views of the City behind and the Island in front. I'm sure its pretty good but because we arrived so late there wasn't much to do apart from watch the laser, water and fire show. It was pretty cool, but at times felt a little too old (it was like a show at DisneyWorld). Its never a good sign when you start to feel old (now I know how Rich must feel everyday lol). After visiting Sentosa we were in need of a beer! Luckily even though our hostel was a dive, it was bang next door to a few watering holes. So in we went to the first karaoke bar (Milsy promised me and Roomy a song), ordered our drinks and sat down, and then suddenly there was a hand in and around my 'special place'. It was like we were back in Bangkok! Crazy. And we were all wearing what we had worn all day to travel in, so I'm sure Milsy and Roomy must have smelled a little bit! The drinks soon disapearred and after a few more we went back to our room to join the other 13 for sleep! Great fun! But at least its only for the one night...bring on Australia and another 8 hours on the plane...
