Hey everyone,
Its been another awesome week in the land of Oz! Since we've been in Adelaide the weathers been consistently over 30 degrees (not too shabby). We love that heat. Apologies to all you dedicated followers out there too (really?) for not keeping the old journal updated more regularly but I've had a pretty busy week.
Last Sunday we all went to one of Scotts Best Mate's Daughters Birthday. And for all the boys, a gentle applaud was required lol. It was at some Pub on Henley Beach and my god it was so hot. And even though I was feeling horrid I joined everyone for a few cheeky beers to celebrate the young lass'es Birthday. They were very nice girls and they made us feel really welcome. Later on we did venture towards The Grand (a Bar/Club) but it was worse than getting up those Golden Steps on a Saturday night. The queue was massive and after far too long standing around we gave up and said our goodbyes. I hate queuing...no patience. On Monday, it was time to stretch those muscles (and they needed to be stretched at 7am) and join Scott and his mate Paul for a round of Golf at Scotts home course 'The Grange'. So I used Paul's old set, and borrowed a pair of Scotts Shorts and I was all good to go. We headed straight for the first tee, without any practising before hand. And I hadn't even laid eyes on a Golf Club for 7 weeks but being a true Sportsman I stepped up with a pretty rubbish Driver and nailed one straight down the middle...no hook or anything! But after the First hole, it went all a bit wrong (I blame it on the heat) and by the 18th I was handing money over. But it was an awesome course plus I did have 3 hot (and I mean hot) caddies lol. Golf in Australia...any good! When I got back from Golf, I joined the boys on the beach. We even ventured into the sea, but only for a little paddle. Theres no way I'm going any deeper than knee deep, there had been a few shark spottings over the last week...aaaah! Not that I'm scared :-). Later, I think we cooked up some more of that delicious Dela Moore Pasta and played some pool before going to bed early to get up for the Cricket.
Like a right little trooper, I got my day bag packed for the Cricket and I even made myself a few sandwiches! Great sandwiches. We headed off for the Cricket without a ticket but we had heard there were some available at the Ground. So when we arrived we got approached by some fella offering three tickets for $20 each. We'll have some of that! Thats like 8 quid...bargain. Plus it looked like whatever the result would be, it was gonna be a full days play. So we got under the famous scoreboard and had a little sit down because we got there quite early. It was an amazing day. Although to start with we did have another schoolboy, even though we were the first there...the Aussies sat all around us. The Barmy Army were only over the walkway but being lazy and a little camera-shy we opted to stay where we were and have a few more beers before having a little sing with the Army. When lunch came, we moved across to stand with the English. It was so hot, so me and Milsy decided the best way to combat this heat was drink more and more and sing. It was awesome...so many different songs and for all you who watched the day we were positioned a few feet from Jimmy (the fella in the St Georges gear), what a legend! Even though our collapse was embarrassing we sang (well me and Milsy did) till the very end. Even when that loser scored the winning run, we were singing. I still can't believe we lost (and yes Seana I won't show my face at anymore if that happens when I go) but we'll turn it around and win 3-2. After we left the Ground me, Milsy and the Barmy Army headed back to HQ for a few more and and questioned where it all went wrong. I'm not gonna lie to you, there were a few grown men in this Pub crying...I even had to give one of them a Kleenex. But it was an amazing day and I'll always remember it. When we got back to our room, it sort of dawned upon me that I was pretty damn drunk so within seconds I was asleep snooring no doubt.
The next day we moved out of Scott and Belindas and moved into a nice hostel just around the corner. We're staying here for another week before travelling back towards Sydney for Xmas and New Year. So from living it up like Kings for a week all three of us came crashing back down to Earth. But we can't thank Scott and Belinda enough for what they've done for us! So we spent the day buying them a few thankyou presents and then in the evening Scott brought us a map and then told us the best way to go when heading back to Sydney. Apparantely an awesome drive. Yesterday it was time for the big rematch. This time we played Golf at Paul's home course 'Blackwood'. Its one of the best courses I've ever played on. And luckily when it was all said and done and a few Tiger Trophy Balls were won I got my revenge and cleaned up. At least the English won at something this week. Plus the course was very hilly so when I got back I was so tired. I've got the feeling my fitness (if I ever had any) has gone! I think the plan is to go sharking tonight (as it is a Friday) so speak soon everybody.
