Got up for a Zen meditation yesterday morning at 7-8. Iv got lots to learn about meditation as we had to sit for 25 mind then walked around in a circle 3 times and then sat again for another 25 minds staring out a window. I totally didnt get it at all and found it utterly boaring. Might give that class a miss next week :)
Then onto a Sri Aurobindo introduction to Integral Yoga and again most of it went over my head. They spok alot about the different stages of "enlightenment" and im a million miles away from it at this stage of my life but one of the girls game me a nice book called The Wisdom Of Yoga and its a great help. Maybe some day ill know what all of this is about. Still it was interesting and i met some really nice people at the workshops.
Later on me and one of the girls from the guest house headed to the neighbouring town Kuilapalayam. We took our old rickidy bikes the accomidation provides, which are just great for getting around and headed off. The road quickly became very busy with lots of motorbikes and then school buss. They beep the whole time so you really have to be calm and not swerve every min you hear a beeb as youl go flying into the ditch!! As we made out way into the town it was obvious by the smell that things werent going to look so good. The ting i really noticed was the state the dogs were in they had very little fur, there skin was sagging and they all looked wobbly and close to death. The people were all very busy with there work and you could see lots of shacks behind the shops where they lived.
Im very gratful that im staying here in Auroville its a good stepping stone between really india and the western world. There are lots of locals here but im not faced every day with the awful poverty that is apparent just 15 mins down the road.
Today at 4 Im being collected by Kumar who is going to take me to the new colours after school program for local kids. Lookingforward to getting stuck in.
