We have spent the last 3 days in Manarola which is in the Cinque Terre region of northern Italy. What a beautiful and unique world heritage area. There are 5 villages built along steep cliffs that drop down to the ocean and the villages are linked by a coastal walking path and train system. Will upload photos later so you can have a better view. There has been lots of walking as it such as steep area - lots of fun dragging trolley bags up 100 or so very steep, narrow stairways. The buildings are all different colours - yellow, green, pink, brown - the locals seem to all have an agreement that their house will be a completely different colour to the neighbours - a very colourful effect. We have a 2 bedroom apartment in Manarola which has been absolute luxury after single shared rooms. At last able to wash clothes - after 10 days of travelling I think we were starting to get pretty smelly. The showers in Europe are quite a challenge also - very very small - difficult to get into, let alone try and wash oneself. Anyway, having fun and relaxing +++++. Hi to everyone at home. Off to Southern France tomorrow.
