I can't believe I'm leaving Auckland today. 28 hours is quite a distance to travel to only stay in the place for 3 days. Anyways my Flight isn't until evening so I've got enough time to explore.
1st stop is the hotel gym.. I sort of feel guilty about all the stuff I've eating - let's put it his way healthy living hasn't particularly been my moto the past couple of days. Oh the hotel also has a sauna so will defo be trying that out...
Gym - sauna - breakfast and checkout, it's time to head to Devonport, there are only 2 ways to get there via the harbour bridge by car or by ferry. I took the ferry down as it was he easiest option, the weather is still not too great though. Anyways when I got to the island I had a nice walk around it's an island that has loads of history to it that has remained preserved and unchained for decades. I mean the most modern thing here is a subway which I'm sure they fought tooth and nail to set up cus of protests from locals and all.
Anyways I really wanted to ride a sageway Whig I was told is the best way of going round davenport but due to the weather (spells of rain and sunshine) that particular tour was not on for the day. So I walked up to what is an acient naval base a particular building called the north tunnel built especially when the Russians were planning on invading he island... During my walk round he skies gave way and it was pouring down. Luckily enouh for me I was kindly offered to hop onto a tour bus which was just about leaving the tunnel.. The tour guide was awesome and he allowed me to stay on while he gave the ret of the tour round the island.. There were old buildings, traces of he Maori tribe.. Boat docks where they have international events.. From what I gathered after the Maori tibe found the island the new zealand navy took over and built a base round there.. You can actally still see traces of their existence and there are a number of retired officers and/or their families still living on the island.
After the tor I headed back to mainland Auckland and straight to the Sky Tower to see what all the fuss is about. Shall i say the building is actually quite breathtaking there are very few buildings in the Uk which can compete. I made a dinner reservation and then went on a little tour round the building. They've got mainly restaurants bars casinos cafes cinemas and the sorts. It was basically one big leisure centre.
I had enough time to go to the 52 nd floor to take pictures of the city, u can more or less see the whole of Aucland's from that level, it was a stunning view. The reaturant was a revolving one, I had some reservations hoh about eating there cus I thought I might get queasy from the rotation and my dinner ends up in a toilet bowl. But it wasn't anything to worry about once I got here as the rotations were almost barely noticeable. Had a seafood risotto again with Scallops (another item on my list of - must try things in New Zealand), fish of the day and prawns - it was the best risotto I have ever had in my life!!
Anyways that's my touring done.. Need to head back to the hotel pick up my suitcase and embark on my journey to Hong Kong..
Till next time folks
Xoxo
