The past 48 hours have been hectic, where do i start.. After a 2 hour delay I finally touched down in Auckland International Airport at about 2 pm New Zealand time (1am UK time). Didn't take me long to get through customs at the airport; so I thought to myself I'll still be able to make something of the day if I grab my suitcase and head to the Hotel I'll be staying for the next 2 days. Well that wasnt to be the case, as I waited, and waited.. And waited for my suitcase to come through on the conveyor. After an hour of this, an annoucement was made for me to come to the service desk.. That's when I knew the dimwits had misplaced my luggage.
I went straight to the service desk and was told there is 'good news and bad news' - basically my suitcase was never loaded on the plane from Heathrow so it'll take 24 hours for it to get to me... Hmm I didn't get what part of this news was 'good'. Anyways they gave me some money to get somethings in the meantime, which to be honest annoyed me further, I just wanted to change into some of MY fresh clean clothes. I guess the only plus side was that my suitcase would be delivered to my hotel room.
Anyways I arrived at the hotel with minimal trouble, got a message that Sach the IET chair for the Auckland region asked me to contact her. I called her up, told her bout my misfortunes and she seemed genuinely sorry for me, so she said she'll come keep me busy for the evening. Thank goodness the hotel I am staying at is smack bang in the middle of the centre so I just popped next door got some clothes and toiletries, came back to my hotel and freshened up. I then got a call from reception saying Sach was downstairs, went down to meet her and we went for dinner. She's a lovely person, it's amazing how many things we had in common. Anyways I had a good seafood meal with wine and desert and went back to the hotel for what was probably the longest sleep I have had in months.
So it's Monday morning round here, I woke up really early had some breakfast and finished up writing the presentation I'll be giving later on in the evening, it's nothing major really just a 10 min one. I actually wonder why I travelled 28 hours across continents and seas for a 10 min presentation.. But can't complain though because its not from my pocket.
Anyways the display picture is where I currently am... Nice hey?.. I'm waiting for a tour boat it's called the Habour cruise - I get to see the rangitoto volcanic island Auckland Habour bridge, and devonport.. With nice beaches, shops and cafes..
Anyways going to get me a smothie while I wait.. Till next time guys
Xoxo
