So today was the first day of me and my best friend Jordan's little weekend excursion to London. It was just a random trip we booked to spend some time together and enjoy finally being off university! We set alarms for 4am which was devastating, especially after only having went to bed at 1am. We got all our luggage together and headed to Belfast City where the impending doom of having to fly awaited us.
We boarded the flight and were on our way at 6.45. I thought I was going to be brave but as soon as the plane was speeding down the runway I grabbed on to Jordan's hand for dear life! I'm sure she was wondering what she had let herself in for! Once we landed we headed to get the train to Victoria Station. At the price of twenty pounds I nearly had heart failure! After the train journey we then hopped on the 24 bus. After walking around we finally found our little nifty hotel called 'Z Soho'. It was literally the cutest room I have ever seen in my life. We walked through the door and just burst out laughing, it was about the size of a box, with one sheet of glass separating the toilet and the bed haha :) Cute!
We then had our first tube experience which went suprisingly smoothly! Jordan was pretty good at reading the tube map and to be honest, I just followed for a big part of the weekend ;) We got the tube to the Victoria and Albert museum which was incredible. There was an exhibition of different countries and cultures around the world, which was expecially exciting for me as in two weeks I will be visiting a lot of those places! Madness! The fashion section was great too. Jordan picked up a couple of gifts from the gift shop, where we then exited (Not so subtle Banksy reference). It was then back to the hotel to chill before Harry Potter studios!!!!
After lying on the bed and channel hopping, we got ourseleves ready for the most exciting thing ever, the birthplace of Harry Potter! I would call Jordan and myself mad fans, maybe even a little obsessive so you can tell how excited we were! After Jordan navigating the way again, we eventually ended up at a bus stop were a bus fully decked out in all things Potter turned up. Now as me and Jords had been on the go from 4am, we were exhuasted and even closed out eyes for a couple of minutes. The bus pulled up and our multicultural bus filled out and into the tour. IT WAS AMAZING. I am not even joking. Obviously there was the over enthusiastic tour operators but I guess they are only doing their job. The great hall was exactly like the movies with all the garments set up just as they looked on screen. We visitied Privat Drive, picked out a wand from Olvanders and even made some potions with snape! haha. The effort and detail of every prop and every scene was incredible, and one worker kindly gave us a talk about how the people who make the prop papers made up their own language, so only those workers know what are actually written on all the various peices of parchement! I sound like I am a Harry Potter Studios Tour promoter, but really, a must visit if you are about London!
It was then time to get some sram because we had also realised we had had a total diet of soft mints that day. We went to The Angus Steakhouse. At first we had one of those annoying tables that goes wonky everytime you lean on it, I wasn't for putting up with that! We eventually just got a napkin and problem solved. I got a massive chicken dish with yummy chips and salad. It was really tasty! Jordan got chicken too but it was sauteed with mushrooms, also looked yummy! After our lovely meal we dragged ourselves through the streets of LANNNDANNN (inside joke) and made our way to Z soho. We got changed in our little cardboard box room and continued to laugh at the hilarity of the room. We loved it though. It was our awesomely s*** room. Bed time!
