28 HOURS IN THE MAKING
Right listen to this.... Monday was just a normal day we decided to do a walking tour of budapest and seen all the important sights. We then decided to stay in as we had a long train journey to Ljubljana on tuesday morning. We watched a few dvd's and had a couple of cans with some aussies in the hostel then went to bed about midnight.
Up at 7am to start the journey. All according to plan until we realised it wasn't a direct train and we had to change at Zagreb on the way. So after a 6 hour journey we arrive in zagreb to find we had a further 4 hour wait until our connection Ljubljana!! So we got a bite to eat joe built a castle of cards and we boarded the train about 6.10 pm. Train customs dudes took the piss and we were waiting about for about half an hour on the border of slovenia going nowhere. Eventually get in at 9.30 pm (only 4 and half hours late of our check in time at hostel). Followed the instructions we were given to the hostel and the problems began. First we were told to get off at the 5th bus stop but it was actually the 6th! Then the exchange office we were told to look out for isnt even there anymore! The same goes for the street we had to walk down as it had all been dug up and blocked off. Tried a few different routes but no joy not even the locals knew where it was. We then found the supermarket it said it was next to...but again no joy. The hostel was nowhere to be found. Ended up making the decision to go back to the station and take shelter and wait for the 2.22am train to Venice then onto Milan. Got back to the station and had a nice 4 hour wait in the freezing cold of platform 4 at Ljubljana train station. Train came just before we died of hypothermia and we rolled on into Venice for about 7am (been up and about for 24 hours by now). Got straight on the train to Milan and arrived here at 10.30am. We've had a little kip and a wash which we were in desperate need of and now back to 100% travellers fitness and off to see the sights of Milan. Hope you are all enjoying the comforts of home life and appreciate your beds.
Love you.
