MARSEILLE

Just arrived in Marseille today after a slight change of plan. Decided to watch the final in Nice because it was closer. Last night was outstanding!! We arrived in Nice at about 1pm an hour late after our train broke down and we had to change trains. Got a bite to eat and bought some beers to take back to the hostel and start the night. After a couple of beers the face paint went on (we looked fantastique) and headed out for the bars. As we walked down a really big busy street at 6.30pm we got a lot of funny looks. Some people booed and heckling at us but we did get a few cheers and smiles mainly from the tramps but also from the policemen. We walked past one girl and she looked absolutely disgusted with us, tutted and mumbled something to herself and it sounded hurtfull. We headed to Mcmahans the irish bar and got a great reception (we were safe there). Basically just got hammered and sang 'God save the queen' over and over again. The match was disapointing but we were drunk so we got over it easily enough. Had a hard job finding our hostel as we totally lost our bearings and ended up walking around for ages before admitting defeat and jumping in a taxi. Woke up this morning with face paint still perfectly in tact, but decided to wash it off for the train which wasn't so easy as we thought. Our train to marseille was cancelled (the french trains are unreliable to the max) so we jumped on another one and it took about 2 and half hours to get here. Gonna have a look about today and then onto Barcelona tomorrow which involves 3 different trains and gonna take about 9 hours to get there..happy days!!
