So today was our helicopter flight. There was a minor glitch this morning when they tried to pick us up from the wrong hotel. No real problem, as we drove to their site instead. However they have offered us a free photograph & video of the flight as compensation. This with out us making any sort of fuss at all.

We had to sit in the rear seats so filming opportunities were somewhat limited but I do have some pics to post. As promised, we went over the Hoover Dam (looking quite small from up there), Lake Mead, Grand Canyon & Las Vegas itself, coming down the strip. Flying over the Mojave Desert really gives you an idea of what an uninviting & desolate place it is We landed in the desert as the helicopter company have an unmanned fuel store there & we needed to refuel.

Afterwards we drove through the Las Vegas strip, despite Doreen's protests. I thought, you just can't come to Las Vegas & not drive down the strip! Absolutely huge hotels & glitz everywhere but right next door a "vacant lot" or un-improved piece of the desert. Doreen was amazed how big they were in reality, they looked small from the helicopter. The pilot told us there are more hotel rooms in Las Vegas than in the whole of Europe. It makes you wonder how they fill them all.

Tomorrow we plan to drive right up through Utah & stay in Wyoming tomorrow night.
