Today I had intended to go through the Park & take the North-East exit, but that pass is still blocked by snow, so we had to take the North exit instead. This meant travelling over a route we had already traversed three times but we had no other option if using the Park. We got caught in "Bison jam" again, but this time we were only the second car to be stopped so got a better view of the action. The Bison were fording a river before crossing the road so there are a few shots of that.
After leaving the Park for the last time we continued North on Route 89 through the Yellowstone River valley to join Interstate Hiighway I90 going East. Route 89 proved to be another excellent road with very little traffic & we made good progress. We are quite blase about the views on these roads now, but again we were travelling in a valley with mountains all around, in bright sunshine but with very strong winds buffeting the car. I90 also follows the Yellowstone River valley & later we took I94 which continues following this river Both these Interstates had less traffic than expected & were a pleasure to drive on.
We arrived at our motel (Super 8 - won't bother with them again) at about 5.30pm. The receptionist recommended a local restaurant for dinner & we had an excellent meal. Tomorrow we head for Valley City, in our next State, North Dakota.
Mileage today 365. Total to date (this car) 2436. Total 2967.
A good job this car is pretty economical. I checked the mpg & over 950 miles it worked out at 35.43 mpg (US) which equates to 42.38 mpg Imperial. Very good considering the high speeds we have been travelling at a lot of the time.
